Senior Lib Dems present 'Save Our Post Office' Petition to 10 Downing Street3.44.00pm GMT Tue 11th Mar 2008
A deputation of senior Liberal Democrat MPs, Peers, councillors and candidates presented a petition to Downing Street protesting against the closure of Britain's post offices. The deputation delivered 50,000 signatures hundreds of which came from Edinburgh South. Fred Mackintosh, Mike Pringle MSP and the local Liberal Democrat councillors have been collecting signatures to the 'Save Our Post Office' petition over the past year. The 50,000 signatures were delivered by: Rt Hon Malcolm Bruce MP, Sarah Teather MP, John Pugh MP, Mark Hunter MP, Bob Russell MP, Cllr Paul Scriven, London Mayoral candidate Brian Paddick, Paul Rowen MP, Cllr Colin Eldridge, Cllr Munira Hassam and Welsh Assembly member Jenny Randerson.
